Ringmaster Pendant Lamp

A new look for the classroom

When it was made, the Ringmaster lamp was designed to hang in schools and institutions. Its modern look brought the new 1950s style into these academic spaces.

From air-duct grille to ceiling lamp?

Like many designers after World War II, Reed began using aluminum because it was light and strong like plastic, but it could be shaped into a larger variety of interesting forms.
Reed adapted an aluminum air-duct grille to create the Ringmaster lamp. He employed the spinning technique to create the rounded sheet of aluminum that could then be cut into three separate rings
