Porcelaine De Chine Tableware

Smelling good was never so safe
Moving to the East

The original moulds for Koen de Winter's white porcelain tableware were produced in Quebec, however the cost to produce large quantities of the line took the manufacturing process to China where there was a good source of white Kaolin clay and under-utilized factory equipment.

Imported Talent

Koen de Winter worked for VOLVO in Sweden in the early 70s, and then moved to Holland to head up the design and development department of Mepalservice, a producer of plastic dishware and food and juice containers. His work caught the eye of Danesco, Canadian importers of Mepalservice products, and De Winter was quickly persuaded to immigrate to Montreal to become the firm's design director.
